"I had never been to a chiropractor, so I really did not know what to expect — but I was welcomed with kindness and care." For Emily Cornelison, a 31-year-old first-time mama, that first visit was the beginning of a journey that would carry her through conception, heartbreak, a natural birth, and her newborn daughter's very first days.
Her full-circle story is one we feel deeply honored to share, because so much of motherhood happens in the parts no one talks about — and every family deserves a team that walks the whole road with them.

How Emily found The Haven
Emily found us the way a lot of our mamas do — while doing her own research. "I first discovered Dr. Hayley through a podcast, What the Bump?, when I was just researching childbirth," she shared. "I discovered that, hey, chiropractic care, that can be a benefit as well."
She and her husband were on their conception journey, so she took the leap and booked her first appointment. Having never seen a chiropractor, she wasn't sure what to expect — but the welcome set the tone. "She explained everything thoroughly and was just so gentle about everything," Emily said. "She was such a great resource. She was very knowledgeable."
Support through the conception journey
To be clear up front: chiropractic care is not a fertility treatment, and it does not treat infertility or cause conception. What it can offer is support for your nervous system and overall wellbeing during a season that is often physically and emotionally demanding — and a steady, compassionate person in your corner.
For Emily, that support showed up every week. "Dr. Hayley saw us through our conception journey," she said. "It took a while for us to conceive, but she was there every week in a supportive way, and even gave me tips outside of chiropractic care on things to try."
Then came heartbreak. Emily and her husband conceived, and experienced a loss. It's a grief so many families carry quietly, and it deserves to be met with gentleness. "I was met with support and kindness through her care throughout our grief, and wanting to try again," Emily shared. Having a safe, caring space mattered as much as anything clinical.
In time, Emily and her husband conceived again — their daughter, Evelyn, sweet "Evie."
Prenatal care and real pain relief
When Evie was on the way, prenatal chiropractic became a steady part of Emily's weeks. Pregnancy asks an enormous amount of the body, and Emily met the common discomforts head-on: nausea, back pain, hip pain.
"Throughout my prenatal journey, every week — whether it's nausea, back pain, hip pain, you name it — she was there and gave me all kinds of support and resources," Emily said. Gentle, pregnancy-specific adjustments helped her stay more comfortable as her body changed.
Preparing for the natural birth she'd always wanted
A natural birth was something Emily had always hoped for. Prenatal chiropractic — including the Webster Technique — focuses on supporting pelvic balance and nervous-system function so the body is as prepared as possible for labor. It's important to be clear: chiropractic care does not turn or reposition babies and does not treat breech presentation; it supports the body's own balance, and outcomes vary for every mom.
For Emily, the experience was everything she'd hoped. "Thankfully, with my chiropractic care, Evie was head down from 31 weeks, which is amazing," she said. "Soon after, around 39 weeks, I was able to complete my natural birth journey — something I had always wanted to do." Her takeaway: "I am very grateful for Dr. Hayley's support in preparing my body for birth."
The fourth trimester: postpartum care and Evie's first adjustment
Recovery deserves as much care as pregnancy. Postpartum brought its own aches — the back and hip strain that so often comes with breastfeeding and caring for a newborn — and Emily kept up her weekly care. "I feel great," she said. "Any aches, pains through my back with breastfeeding or hip pain, you name it, she had a remedy for it."
And then the part that comes full circle: baby Evie received her first gentle adjustment at just four days old. Birth is a miraculous but physically demanding process for a newborn, and gentle, age-appropriate pediatric care supports a baby's nervous system from the very start.
"Evie is a well-adjusted baby," Emily said. "She's so sweet, she sleeps great, she eats great, and she's hitting her milestones early." In Emily's words: "We are so grateful that we found Hayley, so thankful for The Haven, and we can't wait to continue our care with her."

Frequently asked questions
Can a chiropractor help while I'm trying to conceive? Preparing your body for pregnancy is an incredible journey, and our goal is to help you feel as resilient and balanced as possible. While chiropractic care is not a medical fertility treatment and doesn't treat infertility, many hopeful parents find that gentle, neurologically-focused adjustments provide wonderful foundational support. By easing physical tension and supporting a healthy nervous system, we help optimize your overall well-being as you prepare for pregnancy. We love walking alongside you and your OB, midwife, or fertility specialist during this special season.
Is chiropractic care safe during pregnancy? Prenatal chiropractic uses gentle, pregnancy-specific techniques and is widely used throughout pregnancy. I'm Webster Technique and Perinatal certified through the ICPA. Because every pregnancy is different, we always keep your OB or midwife informed and tailor care to you.
Can chiropractic help with pregnancy back pain, hip pain, or nausea? Many expecting moms, like Emily, pursue gentle prenatal adjustments to feel more comfortable as the body changes through pregnancy. Care supports the nervous system and musculoskeletal balance; it does not treat or cure any condition, and results vary.
Does the Webster Technique turn a breech baby? No. The Webster Technique does not turn or reposition babies and does not treat breech presentation. It is a gentle chiropractic approach that supports pelvic balance and reduces tension in the surrounding muscles and ligaments, which may help create room for a baby to settle into an optimal position. It's taught and certified through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association.
When can a newborn be adjusted, and is it safe? Newborn adjustments are exceptionally gentle — feather-light fingertip pressure, no twisting or cracking. Babies are often seen in the first days and weeks; Emily's daughter was first seen at four days old. We always tailor care to a baby's age and stage, alongside your pediatrician.
Can chiropractic help with postpartum and breastfeeding aches? Postpartum care focuses on supporting your body as it recovers and adapts to the physical demands of feeding and caring for a newborn. Many moms find gentle adjustments help them feel more comfortable; care works alongside your medical and lactation support.
