Frequently Asked Questions
The Haven is a cash-based wellness practice and we think that's actually better for your family. When we're not bound by insurance restrictions, we get to focus entirely on the care you need, not what a premium will approve. We offer a range of care plans for individuals and families, and many of our members find our rates are lower than a standard insurance co-pay. Our goal is to make consistent, high-quality care accessible, because every family deserves that.
Your first visit starts with an INSiGHT scan, a safe, non-invasive neurological assessment that measures how well your nervous system is communicating. It's completely safe for pregnant women and patients of all ages. From there, you'll sit down with Dr. Hayley to go over your health history and talk through what's brought you in. If there's nothing preventing a safe adjustment, most patients receive one that same visit. Plan for about 30 minutes.
No referral needed. You can book directly. That said, we love collaborating with OBs, midwives, doulas, and pediatricians who are open to integrative care. If your provider has questions about what we do, we're always happy to connect.
That depends on what you're working through and what your goals are. After your initial assessment, Dr. Hayley will share a care plan recommendation tailored to you. Some families come in for a specific concern and feel significant improvement in a few visits. Others choose to make chiropractic part of their regular wellness routine, coming in weekly or bi-weekly to support their family's overall health long-term. There's no pressure either way. We'll talk through what makes sense for your family.
Your visit includes a nervous system scan, so you'll temporarily change into a gown we provide. We have sizes for both adults and kids. You'll need to remove clothing from the waist up, so comfortable, easy-to-move-in clothes are the way to go.
Bringing a little one? Dress them in something simple and easy to remove. The fewer buttons, snaps, and layers, the better, for you and for them.
Absolutely. Prenatal chiropractic is one of the safest, most gentle forms of care available during pregnancy. At The Haven, we use a special pregnancy pillow so you can comfortably and safely lay on your belly. Dr. Hayley is Perinatal and Webster certified to work with pregnant bodies at every stage. Many of our mamas start care in their first trimester and continue right up to baby's arrival.
Yes. And it looks nothing like an adult adjustment. The pressure used on a newborn is about the same as gently pressing your fingertip to check the ripeness of a tomato. No cracking, no twisting. Birth, even a beautiful, uncomplicated birth, places significant stress on a baby's spine and nervous system. A gentle chiropractic assessment in those first weeks can help identify and relieve tension that might otherwise show up as colic, difficulty latching, reflux, or disrupted sleep.
Parents are often surprised by how gentle it is. There's no popping, cracking, or forceful movement. Dr. Hayley uses fingertip pressure, often no more force than you'd use to check if a fruit is ripe, to assess and gently adjust areas of tension in your baby's spine. Most babies sleep right through it, and some even seem to relax visibly on the table. We take our time, and you're always right there with your baby throughout.
From day one. Many of our newborn patients come in within their first week of life, especially after a C-section, vacuum, or forceps delivery, or any long or particularly fast labor. The earlier any tension in the spine or nervous system is addressed, the better the outcome tends to be. That said, it's never too late to start. We see children of all ages.
Not at all, the whole family is welcome. While Dr. Hayley has specialized training in prenatal and pediatric care, she's deeply passionate about supporting health across every season of life. That means moms and dads, toddlers and teens, athletes, grandparents, and everyone in between. The healthiest families we serve are the ones who grow together.
Some of the most common reasons families bring their little ones in include: colic and excessive crying, reflux and spit-up, difficulty latching or nursing, constipation, torticollis (head tilting or turning to one side), ear infections, disrupted sleep, and developmental milestone concerns. Chiropractic care doesn't treat these conditions directly. What we do is remove interference in the nervous system so the body can do what it's designed to do: heal and function well.
Often, yes. Latch difficulties are one of the most common reasons new mamas bring their babies in, and many see meaningful improvement after just a few sessions. Tension in a baby's neck, jaw, or upper spine, often from the birth process, can make it hard to open wide, turn their head comfortably, or sustain a strong suck. When that tension is released, nursing can become significantly easier for both mama and baby.
The Webster Technique is a specific chiropractic method focused on aligning the pelvis, sacrum, and the surrounding ligaments and muscles during pregnancy. When these structures are balanced, baby has the room they need to grow and move into an optimal position for birth. It's a gentle, research-backed approach that can help relieve round ligament pain, hip discomfort, and sleep disruption, and may support baby moving head-down as your due date approaches. Dr. Hayley is Webster certified through the ICPA.
It's an approach that goes beyond just working on the spine. It focuses on the relationship between the spine and the nervous system. Your nervous system controls everything: digestion, immunity, sleep, stress response, development. When there's interference in the system (what we call subluxation), the body can't function at its best. We use neurological assessments, including INSiGHT scanning technology, to measure how well your nervous system is communicating, and track your progress over time with data, not just how you feel.
