UNDERSTANDING
What is pediatric scoliosis?
Scoliosis is a sideways curve of the spine, often first noticed as uneven shoulders or hips. While your child's medical team keeps an eye on the curve itself, our role is to support how your child feels and moves day to day, easing muscle tension, supporting mobility and posture awareness, and helping the nervous system stay calm and regulated, a gentle complement to the care you already trust.
Signs you might notice
a rib or back hump when bending forward
clothes that hang unevenly or leaning to one side
one hip or the waist that looks higher
uneven shoulders or shoulder blades
Can chiropractic help?
Yes. Gentle chiropractic helps a child or teen living with scoliosis feel more comfortable and move more easily. With a curve, the muscles around the spine often work unevenly, which can leave a child feeling tight, sore, or stiff.
We use gentle, specific care to ease that muscle tension, support mobility and posture awareness, and help the nervous system stay well-regulated. It's comfortable and tailored to their age, size, and stage, and many kids simply tell us they feel looser and more like themselves.
Families across Indian Trail, Union County, and the greater Charlotte area bring their kids to us for that supportive comfort. Everything we do is about supporting your child's nervous system and the way their whole body works together, a gentle complement to the care you already trust.

What families are saying
“Dr. Hayley has been seeing me and my two children for almost two years. She is incredibly thorough with her adjustments, taking time to truly see the whole body at every visit. If you feel you are having issues with a specific area, she is happy to assess and takes her time even though she has a very busy schedule. She is also incredibly reasonable for the Charlotte area when it comes to her pricing. She always includes you in both yours and your children’s care, knowing that you know your child best. She is attentive, patient, and kind to a fault. She treats each patient as if they are her own family and takes the care of each individual very seriously. I have searched all over my area and will always go to Dr. Hayley even though I have to drive an hour each way!!! She’s just that special.”

Common questions
Can chiropractic help a child or teen with scoliosis?
Yes. We help kids and teens with scoliosis feel more comfortable and move more freely. Living with a curve, the muscles around the spine often work unevenly, so we use gentle, specific care to ease that tension, support mobility and posture awareness, and help the nervous system stay regulated. Our care supports how your child feels and moves rather than changing the curve itself.
How is scoliosis diagnosed?
Scoliosis is usually first spotted through a simple screening called the Adams forward bend test, where a child bends forward while someone looks for a rib or back hump. If a curve is suspected, it's confirmed and measured on an X-ray, and many curves are first noticed around ages 10 to 12 during growth. If your child is already diagnosed, we focus on keeping them comfortable and moving well.
Is chiropractic safe for a child or teen with scoliosis?
Yes. Dr. Hayley is trained to deliver a safe and gentle adjustment for all, specific to their age, size, and what they have going on. Care is gentle and specific, grounded in advanced ICPA training, and always comfortable.
What can my child do at home to feel more comfortable with scoliosis?
Staying active, gentle stretching, good posture habits with screens and backpacks, and regular movement all help a child feel looser and more comfortable. We support your child's comfort and mobility as one gentle piece alongside those everyday habits.
When should scoliosis be checked by a specialist?
Any new or suspected scoliosis, or a curve that seems to be changing, is worth having evaluated and monitored by your child's doctor. Our gentle care is a complement to that care, focused on keeping your child comfortable and moving well.
