When you are a mother, taking care of yourself often takes a back seat to taking care of your family. But when you are expecting twins—and working on your feet for 8 to 9 hours a day—listening to your body becomes essential.
Recently, Christa, a wonderful mother of four, shared her beautiful journey with us here at The Haven: Pediatric + Prenatal Chiropractic. Her story is a powerful reminder of how neurologically-based chiropractic care can provide relief during the most demanding physical seasons of motherhood.
Finding Relief During a High-Risk Twin Pregnancy
Working full-time as a hairdresser while navigating a high-risk twin pregnancy took a severe toll on this mama's body. The physical stress of standing all day led to profound numbness in her hands and hips, making daily life increasingly uncomfortable.
Like many expecting mothers in the Greater Charlotte area, she was hesitant at first. Chiropractic care during a high-risk pregnancy can sound intimidating if you don't know what to expect. But after stepping into our office and meeting Dr. Hayley, those fears quickly melted away.
"Within the first 15 minutes of being here... she just has this personality that makes you feel safe, loved, and confident."
After just her first gentle adjustment, the difference was undeniable. The pressure points that were causing her numbness were relieved, and she could actually feel the blood flow returning to her fingertips and legs. Preparing her body through targeted prenatal care not only helped her survive the physical demands of her pregnancy but set her up for a successful delivery.
From Colic and Tongue Ties to Peaceful Sleep
The journey didn't end once the twins arrived. Having two newborn babies is a whirlwind, and when both are struggling with colic, acid reflux, and tongue ties, the exhaustion compounds quickly.
At four to five weeks old, both preemie twins were experiencing severe discomfort. One was struggling with acid reflux and constipation, while both were dealing with the jaw and neck tension that often accompanies tongue ties. This tension was also making nursing incredibly painful for mom.
Dr. Hayley was able to provide gentle, safe pediatric adjustments tailored specifically for their tiny bodies. The goal of pediatric chiropractic care isn't to forcefully "crack" or "pop," but to gently release the tension in the nervous system.
The results transformed their household:
Immediate Relaxation: During the adjustment, the babies visibly melted into Dr. Hayley's arms as the stiffness left their little bodies.
Digestive Relief: Within 24 hours, both twins were finally able to have a comfortable bowel movement.
Pain-Free Nursing: By releasing the tightness in the babies' jaws and necks, mom was able to nurse completely pain-free for the first time since they were born.
Happy Babies, Happy Life
When babies sleep better and eat better, the entire family thrives. We are so honored to be a safe haven for families across Indian Trail, Matthews, and the surrounding communities.
